Severyanka

The Radish 'Severyanka' is a mid-season variety of Altai breeding with large rootstocks of a pinkish-magenta color. The radish flesh is white, dense, and juicy, with a mild pungency, making it pleasant to consume fresh. The weight of one rootstock can reach up to 400 grams, indicating the high yield of the variety. Due to its characteristics, Severyanka is suitable not only for direct consumption but also for long-term storage.

Growing radish Severyanka is possible both in open ground and in protected ground. To sow, it is recommended to prepare the soil by digging or loosening in autumn or spring with the addition of fertilizers. Seeds are sown at a depth of 1-2 cm, with inter-row spacing of 30-40 cm and a distance of 10-12 cm in a row. Optimal sowing dates depend on the desired consumption period: late April – early May for summer harvest and the third week of June or early July for winter storage. After sowing, thinning of the plants must be carried out.

Care for radish includes regular loosening of the soil, weeding, moderate watering, and top dressing. Before harvesting the crop, abundant watering is recommended to improve the quality of rootstocks. Collected radish stores well in a refrigerator or cellar, which allows to preserve its freshness and taste qualities for a long time. The Severyanka variety is excellent for fresh consumption, including for making salads, thanks to its juicy and tender flesh.
