The Quince variety "Oktyabrina" belongs to medium-sized trees and is characterized by a round, compact, moderately dense crown. Fruits reach a large size – from 250 to 410 g, having a round shape with a smooth surface contour. The skin is thin, golden-yellow and almost hairless, which makes the fruit visually attractive.
The flesh is juicy, medium density, fine-grained and aromatic. The taste combines a sweet-sour note with a rich aroma, which makes the fruits popular both for fresh consumption and processing. The variety enters fruiting already in the third year after planting, and ripeness occurs in early October – technical ripeness is achieved in 15–20 days.
"Oktyabrina" is distinguished by high yield and resistance to adverse environmental factors, including fungal diseases. The shelf life of fruits is from 60 to 80 days under proper conditions. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is widely spread in industrial and amateur gardens of southern and south-western regions.
