Quince Fairytale

Practical Application of 'Skazochnaya' Quince

Bred by the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens (NBS-NNTS RAS), 'Skazochnaya' is a quince cultivar developed specifically to excel in challenging, arid climates. For commercial orchardists, this variety represents a reliable solution for industrial processing operations where fruit quality and consistency are paramount.

Key Scenarios for Agribusiness

• Industrial Processing: The fruit’s characteristic bittersweet flavor and juicy flesh make it a premier choice for processing. It is highly valued in the production of jams, candied fruits, marmalades, and natural juice concentrates. Its inherent gelling properties help streamline manufacturing processes and reduce reliance on additives.
• Orchard Management: Featuring a medium-sized tree, this cultivar allows for efficient canopy management, easier pruning, and simplified mechanical harvesting. These characteristics are essential for reducing labor intensity in commercial orchards.
• Drought Resilience: 'Skazochnaya' offers remarkable plasticity in dry regions. Incorporating this variety into a farm plan acts as a hedge against crop failure in areas with limited rainfall or intermittent irrigation, ensuring sustainable yield production despite environmental stress.

This variety is a strategic asset for operations focused on high-volume, cost-effective production. By prioritizing drought tolerance and processing quality, 'Skazochnaya' helps producers maintain consistent profitability while lowering the overall costs associated with irrigation and orchard maintenance.
