RUSSIA NORKA

Russia Norka is an early, large-fruited pumpkin variety of Russian selection, intended for cultivation in warm climates. The vegetation period is 90-100 days from seedling emergence to technical maturity. The plant has medium sprawl with trailing lengths up to 3 meters and a powerful root system, ensuring high drought resistance. The variety is resistant to cooling and has immunity to powdery mildew and other melon diseases, making it a reliable choice for open ground. Fruits of the Russia Norka variety are large, round-shaped, weighing from 1.5 to 10 kg, with the possibility of reaching 60 kg in the absence of bush formation. The skin is bright orange, hard and smooth, while the flesh is of a rich orange hue, tender and sweet with a pleasant melon aroma. The flesh is rich in beneficial substances, including fiber, carotene, trace elements, and sugars, with a calorie content of only 22 kcal per 100 grams. Due to the high sugar content and excellent taste, the pumpkin is versatile in application: it is consumed raw, boiled, baked, made into puree, candied fruits, and jam. The yield of the variety reaches 18-25 kg per bush or up to 300 kg per 100 sq. m. Sowing is recommended in early May with subsequent harvest in August-September. For successful storage, fruits are harvested with stems and placed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated room, where they are preserved for up to four months and more, until January. The variety responds well to the application of organic fertilizers and can be grown both by seedling method and by direct sowing into the ground with a sowing depth of 3-5 cm and a planting scheme of 60x60 cm.
