Description VICTORIA 95
Victoria 95 is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium maturity, developed at the South-East Agricultural Research Institute. It belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by tall growth, yet it is not prone to lodging due to its strong and thick straw. The ear of the variety is white, prismatic in shape, large and denser compared to Mironskaya 808. The grain is large, oval-elongated in shape, with a mass of 1000 grains of about 41.1 g, and grain natural density reaches 730 g/l and above. The length of the vegetative period corresponds to the Mironskaya 808 standard, and winter hardiness is enhanced, ensuring good overwintering even under unstable temperature conditions. The variety has a high potential for yield and grain quality, making it one of the best for cultivation in the chernozem zone of the Saratov region and adjacent regions. Average yield in the region reaches 29 c/ha, and in individual cases, yield can range from 6.92 to 10.46 t/ha. Victoria 95 is distinguished by resistance to powdery mildew and tolerance to the enzymes of the pest bug—leafhopper, which positively affects flour quality and baking properties. Gluten content in the grain varies from 30.4 to 33.5%, raw protein from 13.9 to 14.2%, and flour strength is 320-380 units, allowing this variety to be used as an improver for weak grain samples. Despite high resistance to a number of diseases, the variety is susceptible to solid ear blight and highly susceptible to brown rust and snow mold. The recommended sowing rate is 180-250 kg/ha, which allows adapting the cultivation of the variety under various agroclimates. Thanks to stable grain quality and high yield, Victoria 95 enjoys good demand among agricultural producers, providing additional profit due to the high class of the grain produced.
