Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2005 for cultivation in the steppe zone of Ukraine.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety — lutescens. Head — white, glabrous, cylindrical, 8–10 cm long, medium density. Glumes — medium, lanceolate. Lemma — short, acute, shoulder oblique. Auricle — strongly expressed along the entire length, narrow, venation weakly expressed. Grain — red, egg-shaped, medium groove, base hairy, awn short, phenolic staining medium, 1000-grain weight reaches 35–38 g.
Biological characteristics. Plant height — 95–105 cm, vegetation period — 110 days. Resistant to lodging, head easily shatters. High drought tolerance. Exceeds standard for resistance to hard head. Resistance to powdery mildew, rust, and brown rust is at standard level.
Agronomic characteristics. Intensive type variety. Potential yield — 5.3 t/ha. For bread-making properties, the variety belongs to valuable wheat. According to data from the Institute’s grain quality laboratory, at a yield of 3.0 t/ha, loaf volume was 555 ml, gluten content 35.3%, protein content 15.2%.
Agronomic requirements. Sowing rate — 5 million viable seeds per hectare. Reducing the sowing rate results in excessive tillering, significantly extending the vegetation period. For high yields, optimal doses of mineral fertilizers must be applied. To achieve high yields, plants also require protection against pests using insecticides such as Danadim and Boray, and fungicides such as Folikur and Falcon, especially after heading. Seeds should be treated with insecticide prior to sowing. Due to high resistance to hard head, seeds do not require fungicide treatment.
