Soybean Fortuna

Serbian breeding for reliable yields

The soybean variety "Fortuna" from the renowned Serbian research center IFVCNS (Novi Sad) is the choice of agronomists who prioritize predictability and adaptability. The Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad has spent decades maintaining its reputation as a powerhouse in the European market, and "Fortuna" stands as a prime example of their classic line, fine-tuned for temperate climates.

Biological traits and performance

This variety belongs to the mid-early maturity group, making it a highly practical tool for crop rotation. With a vegetation period of 100–110 days, the plants consistently reach their full genetic potential before the onset of challenging autumn conditions.

• Morphology: Plant height typically ranges from 80 to 90 cm. A significant technological advantage is the height of the lowest pod attachment (12–14 cm), which facilitates efficient harvesting and minimizes losses during combine operations.
• Grain Quality: The variety shows balanced composition metrics: protein content stands at 37–39%, with oil content at 19–20%. This makes "Fortuna" a valuable commodity for both local processing facilities and export markets.

Resistance and phytosanitary profile

One of the core characteristics of "Fortuna" is its comprehensive field resistance to a broad spectrum of pathogens. Breeders at IFVCNS have embedded strong immunity against the most hazardous fungal diseases into this genotype:

• High resistance to powdery mildew and sclerotinia.
• Robust defense against downy mildew, septoria, and fusarium, allowing farmers to significantly reduce the need for intensive fungicide applications throughout the growing season.

"Fortuna" is a time-tested solution for growers seeking the perfect balance between high-intensity production and seed reliability. The consistency of this variety is backed not only by its genetics but also by the strict oversight of the originator, IFVCNS (Novi Sad), ensuring the authenticity of every seed batch.
