Winter soft wheat variety Gadzinka, developed by crossing the collection number AVP-1 with the variety Zhemchuzhina of the forest-steppe region, followed by multiple selections using pedigree methods. Registered in the Ukrainian Plant Varieties Register since 2020 and recommended for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine. Gadzinka is characterized by high yield and adaptability, confirmed by its resistance to various adverse factors, including lodging, shattering, drought, powdery mildew, rust, Fusarium ear rot, as well as pests such as the wheat fly and the grain beetle. The variety also exhibits high winter hardiness and cold tolerance, making it a reliable choice for Ukrainian farmers.
Plants of the Gadzinka variety have an average height of 105-127 cm depending on the cultivation zone, with a semi-erect bush and cylindrical, loose spikes without awns or teeth. The grain is medium-sized, red in color, with a 1000-grain weight of approximately 39.2 g. The variety is distinguished by high protein content (14.2%) and crude gluten (28.2%), which ensures high flour strength (232 standard units) and bread volume from 100 g of flour up to 910 ml. These indicators make Gadzinka a promising variety for the bakery industry.
In addition, Gadzinka wheat is widely used in animal husbandry as a forage crop for producing compound feed. It contains high levels of protein, B and E vitamins, as well as essential amino acids such as lysine, and minerals including phosphorus. Grain moisture does not exceed 15%, meeting quality standards for feed grain. Thanks to its nutritional properties and resistance to adverse conditions, the Gadzinka variety is a versatile and in-demand product for both the food industry and agriculture.
