Potato Zov

Potato 'Zov': A Reliable Choice from Polissia Research Station

The 'Zov' potato variety, developed by the Polissia Research Station named after O.M. Zasukhin, is designed for growers who prioritize predictability and disease resistance. As a table potato variety, 'Zov' is widely recognized for its adaptation to Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions, making it a dependable option for both commercial farms and home gardens.

Tuber Profile and Characteristics

The variety is prized for its attractive commercial appearance. The tubers are round with a smooth, light-yellow (white) skin, which simplifies post-harvest cleaning and processing. With a weight range of 50–130 grams per tuber, 'Zov' fits perfectly into retail standards. The light-yellow flesh is not only appealing but also maintains its integrity during various cooking methods, offering a great culinary experience.

Disease Resistance as a Competitive Edge

What truly sets 'Zov' apart from many similar varieties is its robust resistance to key potato threats. It demonstrates significant resilience against potato wart (cancer) and late blight, two of the most damaging diseases in potato farming. Furthermore, its natural defense against various types of rot makes it an excellent choice for growers looking to reduce crop loss during storage.

Why choose 'Zov'?

For those looking to move toward more sustainable farming, 'Zov' offers a key advantage: its high level of natural disease resistance reduces the necessity for frequent chemical treatments. This helps in lowering production costs while maintaining a consistent yield. If you are looking for a variety that combines reliability in the field with good table quality, 'Zov' is a proven performer that minimizes risks during the growing season.
