The potato variety Vzirets is an early-maturing, high-yield variety of new generation Ukrainian selection, registered in 2017 by the Institute of Potato Breeding of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Tubers have an oval-round shape and yellow color with shallow eyes. The flesh is light-yellow, does not darken during boiling, making this variety especially attractive for table use. Starch content is 15-17%, and the type of boiling belongs to category B, ensuring good taste and versatility in culinary applications.
The variety Vzirets is characterized by high resistance to adverse conditions, including drought, as well as to main potato diseases: golden nematode, leaf phytophthora, and tuber rust. Additionally, it shows field resistance to viral diseases. Due to these qualities, the variety reliably produces high yields even under stressful conditions. Average yield varies depending on the growing zone: in the steppe zone it reaches 127.4 c/ha, in the forest-steppe zone — 189.8 c/ha, and in the Polissia zone — 151.3 c/ha, with potential up to 450 c/ha under intensive yield accumulation.
Potato Vzirets is suitable for cultivation on all soil types and is characterized by uniform emergence and rapid row closure. The variety has good storability at storage temperature around +4 °C, ensuring prolonged preservation of tuber quality. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to follow agronomic practices, including seed treatment, proper planting depth, row spacing, and protection against infections.
