Potato Polissia 96

A Reliable Solution for Long-Term Storage

The «Polissya 96» potato variety, developed by the breeders of the Polissya Research Station named after O.M. Zasukhin, has established itself as one of the most consistent options for farms focused on winter and spring sales. This mid-late variety (with a growing season of 115–125 days) is specifically adapted to the climatic conditions of Ukraine, where it is essential to harvest crops that retain their quality throughout long storage periods.

Agronomic Advantages

Practical experience with «Polissya 96» demonstrates high efficiency in combating common crop diseases. Genetic resistance to potato wart and wet bacterial rot minimizes storage losses and reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. Farmers choose this variety for several key reasons:

• Storage Life: The tubers maintain their commercial appearance and taste for extended periods.
• Stability: A starch content of 17–18% ensures excellent culinary properties, suitable for both retail and processing.
• Marketability: The uniform oval shape, pink skin, and creamy flesh make the product highly desirable for end consumers.

The weight of a marketable tuber ranges from 50 to 130 grams, an optimal standard for pre-packaging and supermarket chains. The variety shows solid resistance to alternaria and common scab, which is critical when cultivating on soils with varying pH levels.

Usage Recommendations

«Polissya 96» is a choice for professionals who need a dependable performer to secure inventory. Thanks to its dense structure, the potato is resistant to mechanical damage during harvesting and transportation. It is highly recommended for farms with automated sorting and packaging processes, as the variety offers predictable sizing. This is an ideal solution for ensuring consistent market supply after the early vegetable season has concluded.
