The potato variety Phenomenon is a medium-maturing table variety of Ukrainian selection, also known as Senator. The tubers of this variety have an oval shape with pink skin and colored eyes, and the flesh is yellow with a slightly mealy texture. The average weight of marketable tubers is about 120 grams, and the starch content reaches 17%, ensuring good taste qualities. The variety is characterized by high yield, reaching 45-50 tons per hectare, and good storability, allowing potatoes to be stored during winter without loss of quality.
Plants of the Phenomenon variety are tall with semi-compact bushes and red-purple flowers. The potato is highly drought-resistant and adaptable, making it suitable for cultivation on all types of soils and in various natural-climatic zones of Ukraine. The variety is resistant to major diseases, including the common pathotype of potato late blight, phytophthora, alternaria, common scab, as well as nematodes and potato rot. Due to the compact arrangement of tubers under the bush, harvesting can be done both mechanically and manually.
Phenomenon potato does not require intensive application of microfertilizers and additional growth stimulators, simplifying agrotechnology and reducing cultivation costs. The flesh does not darken upon thermal treatment, making this variety attractive for culinary use. All these characteristics make the Phenomenon variety an excellent choice for farmers and gardeners aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality harvest.
