Alexandrite

The Alexandrite potato variety is a medium-ripening table variety, registered in 2019 and recommended for cultivation in the Polissia region of Ukraine. This variety is regionally approved and certified in 2024, confirming its adaptation to the climatic and soil conditions of the area. Alexandrite is intended for producing high-quality products, making it popular among agricultural producers.

Alexandrite potato tubers have distinctive features that ensure the high value of the variety. They have a round shape and purple skin and flesh, with the flesh retaining its rich color even after thermal processing. The starch content in the tubers is 15-16%, making them versatile for various cooking methods, including boiling, frying, and baking. The average weight of one tuber reaches up to 100 grams, and the yield is 10-12 tubers per plant, equivalent to 200-250 centners per hectare.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to mechanical damage and a long storage life with storability up to 94%, allowing it to maintain product quality over an extended period. Due to its high content of vitamin C, antioxidants, and flavonoids, the Alexandrite potato is valued not only for its taste but also for its health benefits, making it an excellent choice for dietary nutrition. Its ability to adapt to various climatic conditions and soils ensures stable yields and high-quality tubers.
