Bell pepper POLTAVSKY

A Benchmark in Ukrainian Vegetable Breeding

The «Poltavskyi» sweet pepper variety is a testament to the expertise of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing under the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS). Designed to thrive in the specific microclimatic conditions of the region, this variety has established itself as a reliable choice for commercial and home growers alike. Unlike high-maintenance modern hybrids, Poltavskyi prioritizes environmental adaptability and stable yield performance.

Agronomic Profile and Market Position

Poltavskyi is a classic sweet pepper variety known for its versatility. It performs consistently in both open-field conditions and tunnel greenhouses. Its compact growth habit makes it easy to manage, reducing the need for intensive labor and complex trellising. The fruit shape is distinctly conical, which is favored by both retailers and consumers for its convenience in processing and culinary application.

• Climate Adaptability: Developed to withstand the frequent temperature fluctuations of the Ukrainian climate, minimizing the risk of crop failure.
• Culinary Quality: Renowned for its rich flavor profile and dense flesh, making it an excellent candidate for fresh sales, freezing, and canning.
• Harvest Security: The variety offers predictable maturity periods, facilitating structured harvest planning for farmers.

In the current market, Poltavskyi represents a return to reliability. Growers utilize this variety when the goal is to produce high-quality, ecologically conscious vegetables without the heavy chemical reliance often associated with intensive hybrid farming. It remains a staple in the portfolio of domestic producers who value heritage and consistent, dependable output.
