Description

Mata Hari pepper is an early-maturing, hot variety suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under protective cover. Plants are compact, upright, reaching 100 to 120 cm in height, with a semi-spreading bush form and medium-sized green, wrinkled leaves. Fruits have a horn-like shape, approximately 12 cm long and 2 cm in diameter, with a wall thickness of 2 mm. In technical maturity, they are light green, turning rich red in biological maturity. Fruit weight ranges from 20 to 30 grams. The flesh is intensely hot, making this variety popular for fresh consumption and processing, including pickling.

The Mata Hari variety boasts high yield — up to 3.1 kg per square meter when grown under film cover. It is drought-tolerant and requires good lighting for full development. Fruit set occurs 110–115 days after sowing. For successful cultivation, seeds should be sown after the frost threat has passed, when soil temperature reaches 10–12°C, at a depth of 1–3 cm, with a spacing of 50 x 60 cm, ensuring optimal density — about 4 plants per square meter. Care includes timely watering, fertilization, and soil loosening.

Mata Hari pepper enjoys steady demand due to its high commercial quality and good flavor. It is resistant to diseases, simplifying care and enhancing yield stability. This variety is recommended for both small-scale farmers and experienced gardeners who value the combination of early maturity, high yield, and hot flavor.
