Description

The 'Lastochka Priamuria' pear variety was developed at the Far Eastern Experimental Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics and is widely distributed in the Amur region and other Far Eastern regions. This variety is historically associated with the Ussurian pear and lukashovkas, which is reflected in its adaptation to the climatic conditions of northern areas. The tree is semi-dwarf with a sprawling canopy, begins fruiting in the 3rd-4th year after planting, demonstrating high yield and good winter hardiness, which makes it particularly valuable for cultivation in harsh climate conditions.

The fruits of the 'Lastochka Priamuria' pear are small, weighing from 40 to 50 grams, round, smooth, but irregular in shape. The main fruit color is yellow-green with a weak pink-red blush. The flesh is coarse, with stony cells near the core, characterized by a sweet taste and strong aroma. Commercial maturity occurs in the first decade of August, while the consumer period lasts about 10–15 days. With high yields, fruit size may decrease.

The variety is resistant to diseases, in particular, is weakly affected by pear moth, which reduces the need for intensive plant protection. Thanks to its qualities and adaptation to northern conditions, 'Lastochka Priamuria' is not only popular among gardeners in the Far East but is also used in breeding to create new pear varieties.
