Pea Zvyagelska

Stability for Polissya conditions

The «Zvyagelska» pea variety is the choice for farms focused on predictable yields in temperate climate zones. Developed by the Polissya Institute of Agriculture (NAAS), it has established itself as a reliable crop for intensive rotations, where high biomass and resistance to local weather stresses are paramount.

Agrotechnological profile

A key characteristic of this variety is its tall plant height. For an agronomist, this necessitates precise control of seeding density to prevent lodging while maintaining a robust stand capable of suppressing weeds during early development. Under commercial conditions, «Zvyagelska» demonstrates:

• Optimal vegetative mass development, allowing efficient water usage in the first half of the season.
• Strong adaptation to the soil and climatic conditions of northern and central Ukraine.
• Harvest readiness: with proper sowing density and the use of growth regulators, the variety responds well to mechanized harvesting.

Practical application on the farm

This variety is highly recommended for inclusion in crop rotation as an excellent precursor for winter grains. Due to its nitrogen-fixing capabilities, the crop leaves a favorable soil background for subsequent plantings. Farms focused on livestock production value this variety for its ability to produce high-quality protein-rich feed. When planning the sowing campaign, it is essential to remember that the high growth potential requires adequate mineral nutrition, particularly during early growth stages, which allows the variety to reach its full yield potential.
