Pea Fundator

Fundator Pea: Breeding Strategy by NVA Stepova

In modern Ukrainian agronomy, the choice of planting material is shifting towards adaptive varieties capable of mitigating climate risks. The "Fundator" pea variety, developed by the Scientific and Producing Corporation "Stepova", is a prime example of domestic selection focused on yield stability under intensive cultivation technologies.

The variety was developed by a team of researchers led by Mykola Tsykalenko and the Petryk family, confirming its status as a product of extensive scientific expertise. Unlike foreign hybrids that require strict fertilization protocols, "Fundator" demonstrates high plasticity across various soil and climatic zones of Ukraine.

Agronomic Potential

The key feature of this variety lies in its morphotype. The plant is characterized by a high degree of vegetative mass development. In this case, the significant stem height is an advantage: it allows for the formation of a robust habitus capable of effectively competing with weeds during the early stages of vegetation and facilitates direct combining due to the positioning of the lower pods.

• Stress Tolerance: The variety shows resistance to lodging, which is critical for tall-stemmed crops.
• Technical Efficiency: It is suitable for standard crop rotations and responds predictably to the application of mineral fertilizers and microelements.
• Yield Potential: When sowing regulations are followed, the variety is capable of realizing high potential productivity, characteristic of NVA Stepova's breeding work.

The reputation of the "Stepova" brand is built on decades of work with grain legumes and corn. "Fundator" logically complements the company's portfolio, offering agricultural producers a balance between seed costs and total grain yield. It is a choice for those seeking proven planting material adapted to the realities of the steppe and forest-steppe zones, where not only genetic yield is important, but also the plant's resilience in the face of unpredictable drought or excessive moisture.
