Description SW Crista
The SW Crista pea variety is a medium-maturing, low-growing, semi-dwarf, leafless (hairy) variety, recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe zones. The vegetation period is approximately 85–90 days, allowing effective use of winter soil moisture reserves. Early flowering helps avoid high temperatures, ensuring good pollination and formation of full pods with maximum seeds. Plants reach a height of 50–70 cm, and seed pods contain 5 to 7 pink-colored seeds with a smooth surface and blunt tip.

The variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 5.6 t/ha, as well as drought and lodging resistance. The thousand-seed weight ranges from 220 to 300 g, indicating large seeds. The inner surface of the pod valves is covered with a parchment-like, leathery layer, which is a distinctive feature of this variety. The chemical composition of the seeds includes up to 23% protein, 0.3% fat, and 6.5% carbohydrates, providing high nutritional value and caloric content of about 55 kcal.

SW Crista also exhibits resistance to several diseases, including fusarium, septoria, ascochitosis, and rust, enhancing crop reliability. The recommended plant density at harvest is 29–30 plants per square meter. Due to its agronomic characteristics and biochemical composition, this pea variety is an excellent choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality yields in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions.
