Pea Kharkivskiy 317

A reliable pea variety with predictable results

Experience with the “Kharkivsky 317” variety shows that it is a “workhorse” that forgives many agronomic shortcomings. For an operator used to intensive workloads, this pea is convenient due to its uniform height. The plants are of medium height, which is critical during harvest: the variety does not lodge, the grain does not shatter, and the header easily picks up the mass without clogging with soil.

Resistance in field conditions

The main headache when growing legumes is disease. In this regard, “Kharkivsky 317” is one of the most reliable domestic selection options. The V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute developed it with a focus on immunity. In real field conditions, the variety demonstrates high resistance to:

• Plant rust;
• Septoria;
• Fusarium;
• Ascochyta blight.

By working with this variety, you can significantly save on fungicide treatments. In regions with high humidity, where Ascochyta usually “eats” up to 30% of the yield, this pea maintains a healthy stalk until threshing.

Threshing economics and grain quality

When setting up the combine, the variety behaves predictably. The grain size (1000-kernel weight of 260–280 g) allows you to adjust the drum speed to minimize crushing. A protein content of 24–26% makes the product liquid on the market for both processors and feed producers. This is a case where the crop does not need to be “pushed” with chemicals to get high-quality commercial grain. The “Kharkivsky 317” variety requires minimal maintenance in terms of protection and provides a stable yield when basic seeding standards are met.
