BUYAN

The Buyan pea variety is an early-maturing, short-statured, and very high-yielding type of pea, distinguished by its long sugar beans. A distinctive feature of this variety is the possibility of using not only the seeds-peas but also the pods for food. The pod walls lack a hard parchment layer, making them juicy, meaty, and sweet with a delicacy taste. Immature beans are especially valued in fresh form and are also excellent for stewing and frying in a pan, acquiring at the same time an exquisite taste reminiscent of asparagus.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to shattering and medium resistance to lodging, which contributes to stable yield. Average yield is about 15.6 centners per hectare, with maximum figures up to 49.9 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain varies from 20.2% to 22.2%, which makes the pea BUYAN a nutritious and useful product.

Despite its positive qualities, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases, such as ascochytosis, anthracnose, and root rots, which requires careful care and preventive measures during cultivation.
