Darnel Double

Focusing on Longevity: Why «Double» by DLF is a Pro's Choice

In the segment of perennial ryegrass, the «Double» variety holds a distinct niche. Danish breeding by DLF focuses heavily on the endurance of the sward in temperate climates. The primary competitive advantage of this variety is its genetic resistance to red thread (Laetisaria fuciformis). This disease often plagues lawns and pastures in high humidity, but «Double» manages it without excessive fungicide application, optimizing your agrochemical budget.

Agronomic Profile

«Double» is a perennial type of ryegrass that demonstrates high turf density. Unlike early-maturing varieties, it is optimized for long-term use. Moderate maintenance requirements make it a reliable «workhorse» for those who are not prepared to spend resources on daily intensive monitoring but still expect consistently high results.

• Life Cycle: Perennial with strong early spring growth energy.
• Immunity: Specifically bred for resistance to common turf pathogens.
• Adaptability: Handles moderate traffic well, making it suitable for both overseeding and establishing new swards.

Who Should Choose «Double»?

This variety is optimal for farming operations and landscape projects where predictability is critical. «Double» does not require «greenhouse» conditions, though it responds well to standard agronomic practices. Its strength lies in the combination of resistance and longevity, minimizing the need for reseeding. A minor drawback is the necessity for regular, albeit moderate, fertilization to maintain sward density, but this is a standard characteristic of high-performance perennial ryegrasses.
