ARBATSKAYA SEMKO is a medium-ripening oregano variety that develops quickly and reaches a height of 60–80 cm in the first year, with a leaf rosette of only 10–15 cm. The stems are numerous, upright, and predominantly branching, ensuring dense vegetation and good yield.
The leaves are small, entire, oblong-ovate with a toothed edge, and the flower has a lilac-pink hue. The variety is distinguished by strong aroma, which is already evident in the first year of growth and intensifies in the second. The seeds are small, round, and brown; the mass of 1000 seeds is 0.1 g.
ARBATSKAYA SEMKO is widely used as greens: leaves and young shoots are used fresh or dried in cooking – when making pizza, pickling cucumbers and tomatoes. The greens yield reaches 3–3.5 kg/m² with a sowing scheme of 60×25 cm. During the second year, the plants become nectar-bearing, and the mass of a single specimen is from 500 to 800 g, confirming the high leafiness of the variety.
