Oregano Karamelka

Spicy classics with a selection pedigree

Oregano variety "Karamelka" from the North Caucasian Federal Agrarian Research Center (SKFNAC) is a choice for those seeking a balance between aesthetics and pronounced aromatics. Unlike wild-growing species of common oregano, "Karamelka" has been selectively refined to achieve stable essential oil indicators, making it a sought-after product for both private gardens and commercial cultivation for culinary and medicinal purposes.

Why choose Karamelka

• Aromatic profile: The name of the variety highlights its unique feature — a mild, sweetish aroma free from the excessive bitterness characteristic of many wild forms. This makes the plant an ideal ingredient for desserts, beverages, and delicate sauces.
• Aesthetics: The deeply violet inflorescences turn a garden bed into a flowering carpet. This allows the variety to be used in landscape design as a honey-bearing plant that attracts pollinators.
• SKFNAC Stability: The originator possesses deep expertise in adapting plants to specific climate conditions, ensuring the variety demonstrates good survival rates and resilience against environmental stress.

Application and Care

The main advantage of "Karamelka" is its versatility. In medicine, it is valued as a natural antiseptic and sedative, and in cooking, as an indispensable component for meat and poultry dishes. The variety is low-maintenance: it prefers sunny areas with well-drained soil. However, it is worth noting that for maximum essential oil accumulation, it is best to harvest the oregano during the peak flowering period.

Who is this variety for: It is an ideal option for gardeners wishing to obtain an aesthetically pleasing and functional plant, as well as for small farms specializing in high-quality organic herbs.
