CARMELKA is high-quality dried herb of common oregano (Origanum vulgare L.), weighing 50 g. The plant is a perennial herbaceous shrub reaching a height of 40–80 cm, with purple flowers collected in dense inflorescences, growing in various soils in partial shade. The flowering period is June–July.
Oregano is widely known for its medicinal properties: expectorant, diaphoretic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, analgesic, hemostatic, choleretic, and mild diuretic effects. Essential oils contain thymol, carvacrol, felandrene, and free alcohols; tannins exhibit anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and astringent effects.
For application, oregano is prepared as an infusion: pour one tablespoon of crushed raw material with a glass of boiling water, let it steep for 15–20 minutes. Take 1/3 cup three times a day before meals. Herbal decoction is used for sore throats, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, whooping cough, as well as for inhalations, mouth rinses, and baths. In cooking, oregano is part of spice blends, and in perfumery – as a flavoring agent.
Contraindications: pregnancy, lactation period, and individual intolerance. When following the specified recommendations, the product can be an effective means for supporting the respiratory system, digestion, and overall well-being.
