Onion variety 'Zolksiy' is an early-maturing winter variety that ripens 1.5-2 months earlier than traditional varieties. This allows for harvest during the period of maximum onion shortage. The bulbs have an inverse egg-shaped form, medium size, weighing from 60 to 90 grams. The dry skins are yellow, while the succulent parts are white. The onion has a pleasant, semi-sharp taste, making it universal for various culinary purposes. The variety is characterized by the presence of two-, three-, and four-celled bulbs. Sowing seeds is recommended in open ground in August-September at a depth of 1-1.5 cm using a 10x5 cm scheme. This provides optimal conditions for plant growth and development. The 'Zolksiy' variety is distinguished by high market yield, ranging from 2.4 to 3.0 kg per square meter, which corresponds to 236-296 centners per hectare and exceeds the 'Hilton' standard by 6-54 centners. Bulb maturation before harvest reaches 90%, and after ripening — 95%. Additionally, the variety has good winter hardiness, making it particularly suitable for cultivation in the North Caucasian region. Dry matter content in bulbs is 12.7%, and total sugar — 6.9%, which affects taste and product preservation. Due to its characteristics and adaptation to regional conditions, 'Zolksiy' onion is a reliable choice for single-year bulb cultivation from seeds.
