Onion YELLOW KNIGHT

Technical insights into the 'Yellow Knight' shallot

The breeding partnership between 'Heterosis Selection', 'Vashe Khozyaystvo', and 'Agrofirma Mars' has introduced 'Yellow Knight', a shallot variety designed for high-intensity vegetable production. The core of this material lies in its genetic stability, aimed at achieving uniform, market-standard produce within the mid-to-late maturity segment.

Agrobiological potential and vegetation cycle

The cultivation cycle spans 100–110 days from full germination. For commercial operations, this allows for precise harvest scheduling. Technical maturity of the 'Yellow Knight' is defined by the formation of dense, multi-shoot bulbs, typical of shallots, yet with superior storage longevity, which is critical for industrial vegetable storage facilities.

Genetics and breeding advantages

• Shape and structure: High uniformity in bulb mass and diameter significantly reduces losses during mechanized handling and post-harvest processing.
• Heterosis effect: Utilizing the expertise of 'Heterosis Selection' has instilled a high potential for adaptation against temperature fluctuations during the critical bulb-filling stage.
• Quality metrics: A high concentration of sugars and essential oils makes this variety highly sought after for both the fresh produce market and the processing sector.

This variety maintains consistent performance when standard irrigation and fertilizer protocols are followed, making it an ideal choice for farms focusing on high-quality shallots with extended shelf life.
