Description STRAUS
Leek Straus is a mid-season variety of leek known for its high yield and excellent taste. The plant reaches a medium height of around 100 cm, features a sturdy stem, and has a long "neck" measuring 15–25 cm in length and about 4 cm in diameter. The leaves are green, of medium width, without anthocyanin pigmentation, and the flavor is semi-sharp with a delicate sweet note, less pungent than onion. The mass of one plant ranges from 200 to 300 grams, making it convenient for various culinary uses.

This leek variety is cold-hardy and suitable for cultivation in a temperate climate. It is recommended to grow via seedlings, sowing in March and transplanting into the ground with 70-day-old seedlings. To form a powerful and blanched false stem, the plant needs to be regularly hill-mounded. The planting scheme is 15x50-60 cm, which provides optimal conditions for growth and development. Marketable yield reaches up to 4.0 kg per square meter, making this variety attractive to gardeners and farmers.

Leek Straus is widely used in cuisine due to its pleasant taste and versatility. It is excellent for fresh consumption, salads, appetizers, soups, as well as vegetable, meat, and fish dishes. Additionally, this variety is characterized by stable development, large bulbs, and a long storage period, ensuring high product quality and convenience in use.
