Onion Redflash

Stable Yields and Premium Market Appearance

When working with the "Redflash" onion variety from the Israeli breeder Hazera, its technological edge is immediately apparent. This long-day hybrid is designed for those who plan for long-term sales rather than immediate "field-to-market" turnover. Over a 115–120 day growing cycle, the plant develops a robust root system that helps it withstand typical summer stress without compromising the quality of the onion bulbs.

Field Performance and Storage Capabilities

• Marketable Yield: The bulbs are uniform, weighing between 150–250 grams. The rounded shape simplifies mechanized harvesting and sorting, as the product is less likely to sustain damage when moving through grading lines.
• Appearance: The deep, dark bronze color of the outer skin gives the product a premium shelf appeal. Consumers consistently prefer this red onion due to its attractive, uniform aesthetic.
• Extended Storage: The primary strength of this hybrid is its storability. When stored under proper temperature conditions, the bulbs maintain their density and flavor profile for 6–8 months. This provides a significant competitive advantage, allowing farmers to market their product long after the peak season ends.

From an agronomic perspective, "Redflash" offers predictability. It does not require complex interventions; with a standard crop protection and irrigation program, it consistently delivers high yields. The tight, well-adhered skin minimizes the risk of mechanical damage during bin filling, transport, and logistics, ensuring the product arrives in the same condition it left the field.
