Ozornik

Onion variety OZORNIK is a mid-season variety with a maturity period from germination to harvest of about 110-125 days. The bulbs have a round shape, a dense structure, and a mass ranging from 70 to 120 grams when grown from seeds in open ground. When grown via seedlings, the bulb mass can reach 200-400 grams. The bulbs are characterized by a thin neck and a two-to three-chamber structure. The appearance of the onion is distinguished by a purple-red color of dry scales and a dark red color of juicy layers.

The taste of the OZORNIK onion is pleasant, semi-sharp with a pronounced sweetish note, which makes it versatile for use fresh, in home cooking, and for long-term storage, which can exceed 5 months. The variety is suitable both as a one-year crop from seeds via seedlings and as a two-year crop via sets. Seeds are sown in open ground at the end of April – beginning of May at a depth of 1.0-1.5 cm, and to obtain larger bulbs, growing via seedlings with sowing seeds in March and transplanting seedlings in early May is recommended.

The planting scheme for the seedling method is 5-7 cm between plants and 10-15 cm between rows. Harvest is usually carried out from July to August. Thanks to its characteristics and versatility, the OZORNIK variety is excellent for cultivation in various climatic conditions and ensures a stable harvest of high-quality red onion with good taste qualities and a long storage period.
