Halif

Halif — an early variety of bulb onion, intended for fresh consumption and short-term storage up to 3-4 months. The vegetative period ranges from 65 to 75 days, allowing for a quick harvest. The plant’s leaves are of medium length, green in color with a waxy coating, which contributes to resistance against adverse conditions. The bulbs are round in shape, medium-sized, with a weight ranging from 130 to 170 grams. The outer scales are golden-yellow, while the inner ones are white, juicy, crisp, and mildly flavored, making this variety especially suitable for salads and fresh consumption.

The Halif variety is characterized by high productivity — up to 50 to 70 tons of marketable product per hectare. The plant exhibits good stress resistance and immunity to viral diseases, ensuring a stable yield. Direct sowing into the ground or seedling technology using trays can both be used for cultivation. However, regular and quality watering is required, as onions have a weak root system, especially important to ensure drip irrigation from planting until the foliage wilts.

Halif onion features dense, well-formed bulbs with a pleasant mildly pungent flavor and transparent white inner layers. Due to these qualities, it is popular in the fresh produce market. The variety is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions and ensures a stable yield when agronomic requirements are met.
