The hybrid's architecture is optimized to withstand automated handling, ensuring minimal post-harvest losses.

Protection and Morphological Advantages

With a maturity cycle of 110–120 days, Derek achieves a market-ready bulb mass of 90–140 grams. A key technical feature is its bronze-yellow skin, which possesses high density and structural integrity. This specific morphology acts as a defensive barrier against thrips, the most common pest that typically degrades onion marketability. By strengthening the outer scales, the hybrid significantly reduces the need for late-season chemical interventions.

Productivity and Operational Yield
