It is characterized by a round, dense, and large bulb weighing from 90 to 170 grams, with strong yellow outer scales and a white juicy inner part. The average neck thickness and two- or three-chambered structure make this variety convenient for growing and harvesting. The onion's taste is semi-sharp, which gives it versatility in culinary use.

The AMPEX variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching 292-327 centners per hectare, and under certain conditions — up to 377 centners. Bulb maturity before harvesting is about 92%, and after ripening reaches 98-100%, ensuring high quality and market appearance. Thanks to the strong outer scales and high transportability, the onion withstands storage well, with a period that can reach eight months. The dry matter content in bulbs is 13.6%, which contributes to excellent taste qualities and a long storage period.

The AMPEX variety is recommended for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the North Caucasus region. It is suitable for planting in gardens as well as in vegetable gardens, providing a stable and high yield.
