Malachite is an innovative combined fungicide designed to protect apple and pear trees from scab, dark brown spot, and fruit rots. It contains two active ingredients — dithianon and pyrimethanil — combined in a unique co-crystalline structure. This technology allows the product to be more effective than using these components separately or in simple tank mixes. Dithianon forms a stable and long-lasting protective layer on leaf surfaces, preventing spore germination, while pyrimethanil penetrates the leaf and completely blocks infection development. The fungicide Malachite has improved physicochemical properties due to the co-crystals, which manifest as increased solubility, color change in the solution, and stability of active ingredients at high temperatures. This is especially important for pyrimethanil, which is unstable in free form and evaporates above 17°C. The product is effective even at low temperatures, does not induce pathogen resistance, and has high resistance to wash-off by rain, ensuring reliable plant protection throughout the entire vegetation period. Malachite is available as a concentrate suspension and is applied at a rate of 1.25–1.5 L/ha, with up to three applications per season depending on phytosanitary conditions and forecast. The product is safe for humans and animals, manufactured by BASF, and supplied in 5-liter packages. Its contact-systemic action allows it not only to cover leaf surfaces but also to penetrate plant cells, effectively eliminating pathogens and providing comprehensive protection for fruit crops.
