OJEN — a mid-season watermelon hybrid designed for growth in plastic tunnels. The vegetative period lasts 80-85 days from seedling emergence to fruiting. Sowing seeds for seedlings is recommended at the end of April, and transplanting seedlings aged 30-35 days is recommended at the end of May or beginning of June. For optimal growth, the plants are tied to trellises, removing all side shoots up to a height of 50 cm, and subsequent ones are pinched out above the 1-3 leaf. The recommended planting scheme is 150x70 cm. OJEN hybrid fruits weigh from 800 to 1000 grams and are characterized by a segmented surface, which can be either without a net or with its elements. The fruit flesh is greenish-white, juicy, sweet, and has a pleasant aroma. Upon ripening, the fruits turn yellow and detach easily from the stem, which facilitates harvest collection. To achieve the best results, it is recommended to leave no more than three fruits on one plant. The OJEN watermelon is distinguished by high yield and ease of care due to its attachment to trellises and proper pruning of shoots.
