IROKEZ

The Irokez F1 melon is a mid-early hybrid of the Cantaloupe variety type, with a maturation period ranging from 75 to 80 days. This variety is specifically developed for cultivation in plastic-covered greenhouses and is distinguished by high resistance to adverse abiotic environmental factors. The plants are robust, long-vining, and large, which ensures good development and high yields, reaching 10-12 kg per square meter in unheated greenhouses. The recommended planting density is 3 plants per square meter.

Irokez melon fruits weigh between 1.2 and 1.7 kg, are segmented, and covered with a coarse, dense netting. Upon ripening, their color changes from green to beige, and the fruits easily detach from the stem. The flesh is thick, juicy, and orange, melting in the mouth, with a dry matter content of 13-15%. Due to its taste qualities, the melon is excellent for fresh consumption, as well as for making fruit salads, jams, and candied fruits.

A feature of the variety is the high respiration activity of the fruits after ripening, which leads to a rapid decrease in sugar content and deterioration of taste. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly collect the fruits without allowing them to over-ripen. Immediately after harvesting, the melon should be cooled to a temperature of 10-15°C, which helps maintain its freshness and taste. This approach to storage and harvesting ensures maximum preservation of beneficial properties and the attractive taste of Irokez melon.
