The Idylle melon variety is a medium-late, drought-resistant variety with a growing period from 72 to 90 days. This variety is grown in open ground and intended for sale in the fresh market. The fruits are characterized by a round shape, yellow color, and a dense, thick net on the surface, giving them an attractive appearance and promoting good transportability.
The fruit weight ranges from 1.8 to 2.7 kg, and the flesh has a creamy tint; it is tender, juicy, and possesses a pronounced melon aroma and excellent taste. The variety is valued for its high yield, cold hardiness, and ability to accumulate sugar, making it particularly attractive to consumers who prefer sweet and aromatic melons.
For successful cultivation, sowing for seedlings in April is recommended, followed by transplanting into open ground at the end of May – beginning of June according to a 70x150 cm scheme. During growth, side shoots are removed up to a height of 50 cm and subsequent growth points are pinched out above the 1st-3rd leaf for the formation of quality fruits. During the fruiting period, watering is reduced, which promotes sugar accumulation in the fruits and improves their taste qualities.
