DSM 05 is an early-maturing hybrid of pineapple-type watermelon, characterized by high productivity and excellent taste qualities. The period from mass seedlings to the first harvest is about 65 days, allowing for a quick harvest. Fruits are widely elliptical in shape with white skin coloring, without netting, with an average weight of about 2.4 kg and a maximum weight of up to 3.5 kg. The flesh is greenish-white, thick, juicy and melting in consistency, has a harmonious aroma and a high tasting score, reaching 5 points. Seeds are of medium size and cream-yellow color.
The plant is powerful, forms 2-4 fruits per bush, which contributes to high yield, reaching 550 c/ha. DSM 05 differs in the synchronized formation of the crop and stable fruiting. The culture is heat-loving and demanding to light, prefers light fertile soils, rich in organic substances. For sowing, it is recommended to warm the soil to 16 °C and deepen the seeds by 3-4 cm with a sowing rate of 0.3 g/m².
The hybrid has good resistance to main diseases, which eases care and increases the reliability of cultivation. Thanks to the early maturity and high taste qualities, DSM 05 is suitable for growing in regions with a short growing season and is an excellent choice for obtaining quality and aromatic watermelon.
