Watermelon variety "Dachnitsya" is an early-maturing variety with a vegetative period of 63 to 77 days, allowing harvest as early as late spring. The plant is climbing and medium-climbing, requiring specific care: all lateral shoots must be removed up to a height of 50 cm, and subsequent shoots should be pinched above the 1st to 3rd leaf. This promotes better development of main tendrils and increases yield. The variety is suitable for cultivation in both plastic greenhouses and open ground, primarily in southern regions with a warm climate.
Fruits of "Dachnitsya" are oval or round, yellow or yellow-orange in color, weighing from 1.4 to 2 kg. The fruit surface is covered with a continuous netting, giving them an attractive appearance. The flesh is creamy or white, granular, tender, juicy, crisp, with a strong and pleasant watermelon aroma. High fruit quality makes this variety popular for both sale and home consumption. Each plant can yield 3-4 fruits.
For successful cultivation, seedlings should be sown in April, followed by transplanting into open ground or greenhouse at the end of May to early June, when seedlings reach 30-35 days of age. Planting scheme is 70x150 cm, providing sufficient space for plant development. Watering should be moderate, especially during fruit ripening, to preserve juiciness and aroma. This approach ensures high-quality, flavorful watermelon harvest of the "Dachnitsya" variety.
