The 'Yellow Pigmy' watermelon variety is a medium-early variety with excellent taste qualities. The fruits have a round-oval shape, without stripes and with weak mottling in light green or very light tone, weighing from 6 to 8 kg. The watermelon flesh is yellow, of medium density, distinguished by high sweetness and a pleasant aftertaste reminiscent of exotic fruits. Seeds are small and black. The plant is moderately creeping, developing 2-3 fruits on one bush.
This variety is suitable for growing in film coverings and greenhouses, as well as in open ground, predominantly in southern regions. Sowing for seedlings is recommended to be carried out at the end of April, and seedling planting - at the end of May or early June, when the plants reach the age of 30-35 days. For optimal growth, the plants are tied to a trellis, removing side shoots up to a height of 50 cm and pinching the subsequent ones above 1-3 leaves. It is also possible to grow in free culture sprawling.
Irrigation should be moderate, especially during the fruit ripening period. The ripening period is 65-75 days from germination to the beginning of ripening. Fruits retain their market qualities for 15-20 days after harvesting. The recommended planting scheme is 70x150 cm, which ensures a yield of 5.5-6.5 kg per square meter. The 'Yellow Pigmy' variety is distinguished not only by its attractive appearance and taste, but also by good adaptability to various growing conditions.
