Caribbean Gold

Watermelon Caribbean Gold — a mid-late hybrid of the Cantaloupe type, developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is characterized by vigorous growth and a well-developed leaf canopy, which promotes active fruit development and setting even under adverse weather conditions. The maturation period ranges from 70 to 85 days, allowing cultivation both in open fields and under cover. The recommended planting density is 7–8 thousand plants per hectare, ensuring high yield per plant, up to 3–5 kg.

Caribbean Gold watermelons have an oval shape and weigh approximately 2–2.5 kg. Their rind is dense with a dense netting and is gray-green in color, providing excellent transportability and storage up to 1–2 months without loss of quality. The flesh is bright orange, juicy, dense, and crisp, with a sugar content up to 12%, imparting a rich sweet flavor. Due to its small seed cavity and uniform flesh structure, the fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing, including fruit slices and drying.

The Caribbean Gold variety exhibits high resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew and fusarium wilt, making it easy to cultivate. The plant has strong fruit set and stable yield, and it withstands long-distance transportation without loss of commercial quality.
