VNIIOZ 16

VNIIOZ 16® is a variety of Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) intended for use as a forage crop. This variety is characterized by high disease resistance, which ensures harvest stability and long-term stand longevity. Thanks to its nutritional properties, VNIIOZ 16 is widely used in agriculture as a protein source and an effective means of livestock supplementation.

The variety was developed using individual-family selection based on root systems and belongs to the medium-maturity group. The vegetative period when grown for seeds is approximately 120 days in the first year and about 90 days in subsequent years. VNIIOZ 16 possesses high winter hardiness and drought resistance, allowing it to maintain density and productivity for 5-6 years. Up to four cuts per season are possible, contributing to high yields.

Hay yield reaches 30 tons per hectare, and seed yield is 0.65 tons per season, making this variety economically advantageous for farmers. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including Volgograd Oblast, the Republic of Kalmykia, and Saratov Oblast.
