Honeysuckle VILIGA

Reliable Yield in Harsh Climates

The 'Viliga' honeysuckle, a selection project by Leonid Kuminov, is designed for growers who prioritize winter hardiness and flavor consistency. Unlike many early-ripening varieties, this hybrid does not drop its fruit immediately upon reaching maturity, providing a crucial harvesting window.

Key Technical Features

• Winter Hardiness: Withstanding temperatures as low as -35°C, this variety is an excellent choice for northern regions where spring frosts or harsh winters often destroy flower buds.
• Yield: A mature bush consistently produces 2.0–3.0 kg of berries. This high output per plant makes it a practical option for intensive cultivation.
• Flavor Profile: The fruit is noted for its sweet, dessert-quality taste. Unlike wild honeysuckle, it lacks the bitter aftertaste often found in non-cultivated varieties.

Is this variety right for you?

Viliga is best suited for home orchards and boutique farms where reliability is key. While it does not require complex maintenance, it is sensitive to moisture deficits during the fruit-filling stage. A significant factor to consider is that this variety is self-sterile, requiring cross-pollination from other honeysuckle varieties to set fruit.

This variety is the perfect choice for growers who want to avoid the labor-intensive task of covering plants during winter. If your climate is defined by extreme temperature swings, Viliga offers a resilient foundation for your berry production.
