Zaporizhzhya Bogatyr

Zaporizhzhya Bogatyr flax is a mid-season flax variety developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAN of Ukraine. It is characterized by a vegetation period of 90-91 days and plant height of about 52 cm. This variety features large seeds with a 1000-seed mass of about 9.8 g and high oil content in seeds — 49.5%, of which 65% is linolenic acid. Due to these characteristics, the variety is intended for producing both high-quality seeds and oil.

Zaporizhzhya Bogatyr exhibits high resistance to various adverse factors: drought and lodging resistance are rated at 9 points, as well as high resistance to diseases such as Fusarium and Verticillium wilt. The variety is not prone to shattering and lodging, which facilitates harvesting and increases cultivation efficiency. The recommended seeding rate is 3-5 million seeds per hectare, corresponding to 30-35 kg/ha, making the crop economically viable for agricultural enterprises.

This flax variety is versatile and suitable for cultivation in all soil-climate zones of Ukraine, including less fertile soils. The potential yield ranges from 2.1 to 2.5 tons per hectare, ensuring high profitability and stable income from the sale of seeds and oil. Thanks to its unique properties and stable yield, Zaporizhzhya Bogatyr is an attractive choice for commercial flax cultivation.
