Hop Vityaz

The Versatility of 'Vityaz': A Staple in Ukrainian Hop Growing

In the landscape of Ukrainian hop production, the 'Vityaz' variety stands out as a reliable and time-tested option for producers focused on consistent quality. Developed by the Institute of Agriculture of Polissya (UAAS), this variety is classified as a dual-purpose hop, making it a flexible asset for both breweries seeking balanced bitterness and aroma, and processors looking for consistent raw material.

Agronomic Strengths and Disease Resistance

The primary driver behind the popularity of 'Vityaz' is its built-in biological resilience. In the humid conditions often found in hop-growing regions, susceptibility to fungal diseases is a major risk. 'Vityaz' demonstrates robust natural resistance to verticillium wilt and downy mildew, which helps growers reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, thereby lowering operational costs.

• Vegetation Period: 120–130 days, well-suited for temperate climatic conditions.
• Morphology: produces medium-sized cones with a rich green color.
• Usage Type: dual-purpose (versatile profile for diverse brewing needs).

'Vityaz' remains a preferred choice for growers who prioritize practical, field-proven breeding over speculative novelties. By maintaining a balance between simple agronomy and high-quality harvest, the variety has cemented its reputation as a cornerstone of the Ukrainian hop market.
