Xanta

Xanta hops is a versatile bitter-aromatic variety distinguished by its unique composition of bitter compounds, essential oils, and polyphenols. It is suitable for use in both top and bottom fermentation beers, providing a rich and balanced flavor. Xanta imparts a full-bodied, spicy-floral, and citrus aroma with dominant sweet tropical notes, creating a complex and pleasant bouquet. Its flavor characteristics are especially pronounced when added during the late boil or during cold hopping.

The alpha acid content of Xanta hops ranges approximately from 6.5-7.7%, delivering a mild yet expressive bitterness. This variety possesses a high level of prenylated flavonoid xanthohumol, known for its biologically active properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticancer effects. Due to these qualities, Xanta is not only used in brewing but also in pharmacology and can be employed to enrich non-alcoholic beverages and food products.

Xanta hops are ideal for various beer styles, including IPAs and lagers of all types. It is used both for bitterness and aromatic hopping, particularly effective during late-stage boiling (5-20 minutes before the end of the boil) and dry hopping. Sensorially, Xanta resembles Cascade hops, making it a popular choice among brewers aiming to create beer with a vibrant yet balanced aroma and flavor.
