Flax Dobrodar

Yield stability in unpredictable climates

The Dobrodar flax variety, developed by the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS, is designed for intensive farming practices within Ukraine. Its key competitive advantage is its plasticity; it adapts seamlessly to both high-moisture zones and semi-arid steppe regions where drought resistance is the primary driver of yield consistency.

Agronomic Profile

• Plant height: 50–60 cm, facilitating uniform maturation and efficient mechanical harvesting.
• Flowering traits: a distinctive mix of blue and white flowers.
• Seed quality: high oil content with a uniform brown color.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Dobrodar is valued for its lodging resistance and high yield potential. Unlike many hybrid varieties that demand strict and expensive pesticide protocols, this variety shows significant natural tolerance to common flax pathogens, including Fusarium. However, growers should note that its moderate height makes it sensitive to early-stage weed competition. Proper seedbed preparation and a timely herbicide program are essential for achieving maximum yield.

Is this variety for you?

Dobrodar is the ideal choice for farmers prioritizing cost-to-profit ratios. It serves as a reliable, robust option for those who prefer time-tested domestic genetics that perform consistently across varying seasonal weather patterns, ensuring stable harvests regardless of minor environmental fluctuations.
