Daylily Stepova Zorya

Climate-Resilient Selection

The 'Stepova Zorya' daylily is a testament to the rigorous breeding standards of the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. Developed specifically to thrive in the challenging conditions of the steppe and forest-steppe zones, this cultivar exhibits superior hardiness compared to delicate imported hybrids. It is built to withstand significant temperature fluctuations and prolonged periods of drought without losing vigor.

Field Performance and Maintenance

For the gardener or landscape operator, this variety is a low-maintenance workhorse. The plant maintains a tidy, dense clump structure, which reduces the frequency of division and labor-intensive pruning. Its maintenance requirements are minimal: standard spring fertilization and occasional watering during peak heat are sufficient to ensure robust growth. It establishes quickly, with a root system efficient enough to suppress surrounding weeds, effectively lowering long-term maintenance costs.

Aesthetic Utility and Application

The bloom features a simple, elegant structure that is highly resistant to wind and heavy rain, ensuring the plant keeps its aesthetic appeal throughout the season. Its distinctive color palette—a harmonious blend of soft pink and vibrant yellow—provides a warm, natural glow that enhances any space. This daylily is an excellent operational choice for:

• Borders and Ribbons: Its consistent growth makes it perfect for long, linear plantings where uniformity is key.
• Flowerbeds: Due to its disease resistance, the foliage remains lush and green long after the blooming cycle, ensuring the site looks maintained well into the autumn.

With a recommended planting density of 3–5 plants per square meter, 'Stepova Zorya' provides rapid ground coverage, minimizing the need for mulch and reducing overall upkeep time.
