NBS Breeding: Traditions of the Crimean School

The 'Star Melody' (Zvyozdnaya Melodiya) daylily is a landmark variety developed by the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens (NBS-NNTS RAS). This hybrid embodies the long-term work of Crimean scientists in adapting ornamental crops to regional climatic conditions, blending resilience with an aesthetic appeal highly sought after in both professional landscape design and private gardening.

Visual Profile and Flowering

The hallmark of 'Star Melody' is its sophisticated bicolor pattern. Soft pink hues intertwine harmoniously with vibrant yellow accents, creating a glowing effect within the petals. The active flowering period lasts 30 days, making this variety an ideal tool for creating focal points in the garden at the height of the summer season.

Market Positioning and Application

In the ornamental perennial market, this variety occupies a niche of reliable, time-tested solutions. It is chosen for:

• High adaptability to temperature fluctuations and specific soil conditions characteristic of southern and temperate latitudes.
• Consistency of ornamental qualities: the variety retains its declared color palette throughout the entire blooming cycle.
• Versatility in landscaping: suitable for everything from specimen plantings to group arrangements in mixed borders.

The reputation of a variety created at a world-renowned institution guarantees predictable results, a quality especially valued by professional landscape designers planning long-term greening projects.
