Daylily Romans

Technical Profile of Daylily 'Romance'

Developed by the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, the 'Romance' daylily is a prime example of breeding targeted at high adaptability within local agro-climatic zones. The cultivar’s architecture is engineered to balance rapid biomass accumulation with a sustained reproductive phase.

Structural Morphology and Growth Parameters

The plant height is set at 70 cm. This specific vertical growth ensures an optimal center of gravity, preventing lodging even under high precipitation levels or strong winds. The root architecture is designed for efficient nutrient storage, providing the plant with robust resilience against seasonal stressors.

Functional Characteristics of Blooming

• Pigment Composition: The distinct white and yellow coloration is the result of stable carotenoid and flavonol synthesis, which maintains color saturation even under intense UV exposure.
• Remontancy (Repeat Blooming): The 'Romance' hybrid features a secondary blooming cycle. This is facilitated by a sophisticated genetic trigger that allows for the rapid differentiation of new buds following the primary flowering stage.
• Phototropic Plasticity: The cultivar exhibits high photosynthetic efficiency in both full sun and partial shade environments. This versatility allows for deployment in diverse landscape configurations where light availability may be inconsistent.

From an agrotechnical standpoint, 'Romance' is designed for long-term reliability in decorative applications, requiring minimal intervention while maintaining high aesthetic standards throughout the growing season.
