Lettuce Zima

Technological features of the "Zima" variety

The "Zima" lettuce from the Sedek agricultural firm is a breeding product focused on achieving a consistent marketable rosette under temperate climate conditions. The primary focus of the originators — Sergey Dubinin, Irina Dubinina, and Anatoly Lukyanenko — was the creation of a leaf-type plant adapted for mid-season growth cycles.

Morphology and vegetative cycle

The key characteristic of this variety is the formation of a full, medium-weight rosette of light green leaves. The leaf type implies the absence of a dense head, which reduces the risk of inner layer rot during humidity fluctuations. The medium maturation period allows for a balanced sowing and harvesting schedule, preventing the overgrowth of leaves, which, under correct agronomic practices, maintain a tender texture.

Practical application

• Optimal development: the light green color of the leaf indicates high photosynthetic activity under normal lighting conditions.
• Weight control: the medium weight of the rosette makes the variety convenient for standard logistics and packaging.
• Agronomic advantages: the variety demonstrates predictable performance under standard irrigation and fertilization schemes, which is critical for commercial farming.

Choosing "Zima" is justified for producers who prioritize process efficiency. The absence of complex head formation simplifies maintenance, and the refined breeding base from Sedek guarantees high germination rates and crop uniformity.
